As website owners continue to increase their knowledge about SEO and the landscape becomes increasingly competitive for key search words in your industry, it is important to be aware of all the techniques and tools available to help increase your page rank and search results.

Blogs can be a wonderful tool to use as an SEO technique.  Here are the top 3 reasons why:

  1. Fresh, unique content
    Search engines don’t stop indexing your site once they’ve found it.  They will continually come back to determine if your content has changed (and when the last time it was changed).  Fresh content increases your site’s “worthiness” to search engines because it tells them you’re keeping your site up-to-date.
  2. Relevant Keywords
    Blogs are an awesome place to utilize relevant keywords in your content.  With the right setup, you can have utilize each post to publish keywords / key phrases in the following important areas:

    • URL (of your permalink)
    • Title Tag
    • Header Tag
    • Links (both external – pointing to other relevant content on the web & internal – pointing to other relevant content on your website)
  3. External Inbound Links
    One of the more difficult SEO techniques to implement (because it requires the effort and agreement of others) is to increase the number of inbound links to your website from other relevant sites / pages.  Because blogs are interactive in nature, good posts can bring inbound links from others who tweet your content, post it on facebook, or link to your content from their blog or website.  Google and other search engines recognize that external links (if relevant to the content on your site) add credibility to your content.
